EasterPilgrim: The Lord's Prayer is ideal for anyone to use daily during Easter – starting from Easter Day (12 April) and finishing 40 days later on Ascension Day (21 May).
The 40 reflections on the Lord’s Prayer are grouped in eight chapters of five days on each line. Each day offers:
⁃ A theme linked to the line of the Lord’s Prayer
⁃ In the audio version for this year, a verse of a well-known hymn related to the line in question
⁃ A short Bible reading that explores the theme
⁃ An invitation to reflect on the reading
⁃ A prompt to pause and consider what this might mean for you
⁃ A suggestion of how to pray
Across each group of five days we will explore what each line of the prayer tells us about the Christian vision for human life. We will ponder how this line of the prayer might shape our lives and our discipleship.
For this 2020 edition, we have offered a short introduction to each group of five days relating each line of the prayer to the COVID 19 pandemic and the dramatic changes to our lives it has brought about. We have also added a daily family challenge (by Mary Hawes, National Children & Youth Adviser) which offers a suggested way to share the daily journey at home with children.
Many Christians are connecting online and by telephone to support one another in this season when it is difficult to meet in person. We have provided a new sharing together outline for a regular conversation perhaps 3-5 people to help and support these connections.
The text for the reflections is otherwise the same as the original Pilgrim Journeys material and the app, email and audio versions can be used alongside the booklets.
"We may pray the Lord’s Prayer by ourselves in this season, but we are not alone. We pray the prayer each in company with the Church around the world. Christ lives in us and prays through us in the power of the Holy Spirit. Together we make our prayer: Thy Kingdom Come. May the Lord bless you and your family and household as you make his prayer your prayer in the coming days."
Archbishops Justin Welby and John Sentamu
